Photo Retouching and Restauration - Week 2

This week we learned about removing color cast - using healing tool - adding a border. Following are two pictures I worked on - the before and after views

I'm definitely not satisfied with this picture, and hope that in the lessons to come I will learn how to improve. It is a scan from a slide.

Photo Retouching & Restoration - Week 1

I used the clone tool and healing brush on the image to fix background and numerous spots. I tried to tint the image, but never got anything to look good. (I'm not a fan of tinted images, I'm afraid) - so I ended up with a sepia colored photo.

The following photo is all faded. I used Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Levels. Used the healing brush to get rid of some really bad spots.

Pizzazz - Week 5

I took this picture of the Great Falls of the Potomac last week. I had to seriously reduce the picture so that I could see the effect of the diffuse filter. It still isn't very noticeable.

Doing this cube was fun, but it took a lot of resizing of photos. I never could get Sarah's picture how I wanted it to be, so all you see now are her eyes. Oh well.

Pizzaz Week 1

In this lesson we touched on several filters that come with the PSE7 program. The first two pictures show the before and after of using the Equalize filter. I selected part of the picture, and then the entire image was equalized based on the light and dark pixels in the selected area.

In the following pictures the sky was separated from the rest of the image and then both images were corrected separately.

There's a nifty filter called "Correct Camera Distortion" :

The blur filter is used in the next 2 pictures:

zoom blur

radial blur

The next filter was the Gaussian Blur, which is nice for softening an image:
